The Ra-Ra Report
Is green your favorite color? I really love it because it's the color of lettuce, of kale, of cucumbers and kiwi, of fresh grass and hay- all the things I love to nibble the most! But I didn't realize until this week just how much there was to love about G-R-E-E-N. (That spells green, you know.)
You know how green we are here at EcoBaby, and we put those green skills to the test when our preschool friends made their cunning leprechaun traps for our Shamrock Shindig. Did you know you could catch a leprechaun? Neither did I!
Ms. Caitlyn, Ms. Ali, and our student teacher Hali made a big pile of all kinds of things- bits of cardboard, toilet paper and paper towel tubes, egg cartons, and every pom-pom, pipe cleaner, and pasta in the place! Whew! The kids set to work diligently gluing together their very fancy, and (we learned), very complexly engineered traps.
(Look out, RPI! In about fifteen years, they're coming your way!)
Ms. Caitlyn set them out carefully after each one was finished. We knew that sneaky leprechaun was in for it! The next morning, before anyone was here, I saw him appear in a shimmer, and he almost got snagged by every one of our friends clever traps!
Leprechauns are tricky and fast, and he wasn't quite caught. (If only they had used a cage like mine!) But a leprechaun sure loves mischief and he was proud of the kids for doing such a tricky job on their traps. I watched him leave them gifts of green magic jewels, (and sticky leprechaun juice footprints all over the classroom.)
Ms. Caitlyn had quite the time scrubbing those footprints off the classroom. I would have helped, but I had some very important things to nibble.
Our preschool friends celebrated their shamrock success with beautiful rainbow fingerprint paintings. What a day!
the ra-ra report
Ra-Ra here, and it smells to me like we're just getting to the best part of our long unit on the five senses here at EcoBaby! At the preschool, the kids are smelling up the place with all kinds of fragrant and delectable projects from one day to the next. Let's take a look!
Our friends had a lot of fun making these deliciously scented cinnamon paintings! I bet Jackson Pollock never thought of using that in his work! They hung them up right by my cage and I noticed something interesting. Even though I try and keep my cage really clean just like a big bunny should, the scent of cinnamon really helps on those stinky litter pan days. Thanks, guys- this is the best!
When it was time to start tasting, I knew I was up for the challenge. I've tasted most things around here. Cubbies, pants, even Lincoln Logs. Our friends got to try out their different senses of taste with sour lemons, salty pretzels, sweet apples, and bitter dark chocolate. Ms. Caitlyn even saved a little apple just for me! Sweet! (No, I mean it. They're sweet.)
You know what else is sweet? The luscious banana pudding our student teacher Hali lead our friends in whipping up! Some got to mix, some got to pour, and everyone got to enjoy this sweet treat. I'm bananas about bananas. The best part was getting to have our pudding picnic in the sun outside. HELLO SPRING!
Today was a citrus blast, taking turns helping to put together a batch of soft moon dough, scented with lime. The kids even got to taste a bit of the lime before it was used in the project and wow! They were so clever to remember that they tasted sour, just like the lemons they'd tasted the day before!
Well, that's all the news that's fit to nibble from the preschool. I'll hand it over to Cooper & Max at the daycare, and smell you later! (I probably will, honestly. Have you seen the way my little nose wiggles?)
The coop scoop
Thanks, Ra-Ra, and you'll never guess what! The preschoolers paved the way for the project our infant student teacher did with all these babies. Babies are already so good at feeling things with their little fingers, especially my fuzzy coat! Our student teacher helped the little ones with the same squish paintings your friends were just doing! Take a look!
How talented are these babies? Too good!
Over in toddlers, Ms. Jasmin put together a lavender-scented sensory experience with water and sudsy soap for our friends to splash in. I could smell it all the way from here. It smelled clean and fresh like someone was having a bath!
Hey Max, what's the word?
A few words from max:
My favorite smell is those stinky toddler feet.
The Ra-Ra Report
Can you believe it's almost spring? Ra-Ra here, and I'm feeling it. I'm feeling a lot of things, though, because I'm using all five of my senses. I can feel my soft fur, and smell fresh veggies, and taste the crispy hay that Ms. Caitlyn's daily Bunny Helper puts in my cage.
Our five senses, that's what we've been learning about lately here at EcoBaby, and boy these kids are on a roll. I guess because when you're growing up with a whole world to discover all around you, you put those senses to the test! Check it out:
At the preschool our friends have been hard at work, putting all their senses into their daily art and academics. They experimented painting with different textures, mixing things like epsom salt, coffee, and oats into their tempera paints. You know what I like the best about this project? I got to nibble on the extra oats that fell off the tables!
Comparing soft felt A's and 9's with rough sandpaper ones was the name of the game for our next project, and our preschool friends especially enjoyed checking out how different it felt to color with markers on the soft ones, and crayons on the rough ones. Unfortunately, I didn't get to taste this project.
Our student teacher Hali showed us how to feel our way through crafting slimy strawberry scented dough from scratch! I didn't get to taste that, either. But the kids were excited to show me their art when they saw how finger painting in bags could combine two different colors to create a whole new one.
I love it when they show me their stuff!
Well that's all the news that's fit to nibble from the preschool- I'm going to give it over to Cooper at the daycare, and you'll be hearing from us again soon!
The coop scoop
Thanks, Ra-Ra! Our toddlers are over here testing their senses out every day, too. Ms. Jasmin looked in the storage closet for everything she could find that would be interesting to touch and feel. Look at this- soft flour, hard beans, and lots more!
I guess I don't have to tell you about the infants- you know they get their hands on whatever they can touch! But all bunny-joking aside, the toddlers and infants both use their senses to smell and taste new and wonderful foods every day because of Ms. Robyn's uniquely healthy meals. And the best part? Ra-Ra and I get all the yummy veggie scraps.
Being a bunny at EcoBaby is great- but being a kid here is even better!
Ra-Ra here and this weeks blog is all about love. Hmm love, I love lots of things like lettuce, and the kids at the daycare, and lettuce, and Ms. Caitlyn, and lettuce...oh how I do love lettuce...let me count the ways....
The preschoolers have been working all week on their special valentines for their families and friends. I watched them playing with some sort of dough that they were sticking their hands in. It kinda smelled like food but Ms. Caitlyn said I couldn't eat it. They ended up making really cool valentines with them while I munched on my veggies instead.
We got a new friend this week. The kids were really excited to have a new buddy to play with. They got to go outside and enjoy the first real snow of the year. They were so excited to stomp and play in the courtyard. Looks too cold and wet for me.
Today the kids came in all dressed up for their Valentine's day party. They all looked so spiffy and fancy in their outfits. The teacher's made crayon valentines for all the kids that they got to take home. Looked like everyone had a really good time showing how much they love their friends. Hmmm love...... Over to you Coop. I just remembered I had some lettuce to finish.
The Coop Scoop
Thanks Ra-Ra, enjoy that lettuce.
Coop here reporting live from the daycare with this weeks Coop Scoop. Our infants have been super active this week. Each one of them is learning a new skill and practicing new activities. I've seen new steps, new words and new movements every day. These babies grow up fast.
The toddlers were working on letter W this week and have also been making valentines for their family and friends. They played with some of that funny dough too and you're right Ra-Ra it did smell really yummy. Hope everyone has a great valentines day!
Back to you Ra-Ra
Don't forget that Monday is our Open House and Grand Opening from 2-7. Stop by and say hi to me and all the teachers here at the preschool. I've heard everyone talking about what their making for the bake sale and it sounds delicious. The book fair has arrived and there are tons of books and gifts available! We hope to see you there.
Until next week,
Paws and Love
Ra-Ra here with this week's Bunny Blog. It's been an interesting week at the preschool. I've been hearing a lot of talk about teeth this week. The preschoolers are learning all about good dental hygiene and what foods are good and bad for them. This week is probably my FAVORITE week so far. I get ALL the leftover foods that the kids try for lunch. I've gotten extra carrots, cucumbers and celery this week. So many healthy foods for us to try. Last week during our dinosaur week we welcomed a new preschooler. Our little class just keeps on growing! Don't forget to come meet me and see our center on February 18th at our Open House. Ms. Robyn and the teachers have been working really hard to get ready for it and I heard that the book fair should be arriving soon. I wonder how books taste.....
Well I think I hear my food dish being filled so off to the daycare for this week's Coop Scoop.
The Coop scoop
Coop here reporting live from the Eco Baby Daycare. Over here we've been learning all about teeth too! Max the hamster and I have been enjoying the taste tests of new foods we've been learning about. Today the toddlers practiced brushing their teeth using legos. It was pretty cool, and they looked like they were having tons of fun. We have a new teacher friend that joined us this week. Shabina is getting to know all our toddlers. If you get the chance don't forget to say hi! Our new student teachers started today. They will be joining us from HVCC every Wednesday and Thursday and our student teacher from last semester Katie will be joining us as a new floater! I like Katie, she gives good cuddles. Our babies have been working on their walking and crawling skills. I have to move pretty fast now-a-days to keep just out of their reach. Some of them are even saying words now! It's been pretty exciting over here and I can't wait to see what happens next week, for now thats all the news that is the news. Back to you Ra-Ra
Thanks Coop! Till next week, this is Ra-Ra saying,
Paws & Love
Sorry I've been late to share all of our exciting news with you but I've been so busy lately, why you ask? Because I've GRADUATED! Ms. Robyn said I was old enough now to join the preschool!! I can't tell you how excited I am to be spending my days at the new site and learning so many cool things with my fellow preschoolers. I get to join in at circle time and last week we were Mad Scientists. My big kid friends got to make Gak, which looked to slimy for my furry paws but they seemed to love it. We also got a new friend at the preschool. It's nice to have a friend to start with. I'm settling in nicely over here and am really enjoying being a big bunny.
Even more exciting news to share with you. I got a baby brother! Well, I guess technically he's bigger than me but I was here first so... His name is Cooper and he gets to live in the Infant Room with all our adorable Eco Babies. He loves it over there and will be sharing news about what happens at the daycare in his new segment on the blog called the "Coop Scoop." The teachers over there tell me he's fitting in great and the kids love him. Here is Cooper now with his report.
The Coop Scoop
Hey Ra-Ra, Coop here reporting live from the daycare. It's been a great week getting to know everyone. It's so different than my last home but i love it. There is always someone to scratch behind my ears or sneak me some yummy treats. I'm learning so much watching my friends in both rooms. The toddlers learned about some pretty interesting things last week. I heard them talking about a big word, absorption. They got to take different materials and find out how fast they absorbed colored water. It was neat. The babies are moving all over the place. Some just learned to crawl and some just learned to walk. I've got to move fast around here to make sure I can keep up with them. i can't wait to see what happens this week.
That's it for the Coop Scoop this week, back to you Ra-Ra
Wow Coop, sounds like you've had a really busy week at the daycare. Glad you're there to take care of my kiddos. Parents, I just heard the teachers talking about a GRAND OPENING and OPEN HOUSE to celebrate the preschool. They said it was going to be on February 15. There is going to be a Scholastic Book Fair, a bake sale (I hope someone bakes treats for me) and everyone can come see my new home. Ms. Robyn said it was going to be open to the public so bring everyone you know! Stay tuned for more information about this event.
Well, it's almost time for lunch and I never miss lunch so until next week...
Paws & L:ove
Bunny RaRa here!
I love being able to tell you that our EcoBaby family is growing every week! Another friend joined the Preschool class this week, and we're expecting one more friend by February. Speaking of expecting, Miss Caitlyn is pregnant! Come late this summer, the Eco family will be adding another baby! I'll be sharing my vegetables with her to make sure we have a nice healthy EcoBaby.
All of the classrooms have been working on the theme Arctic Animals this week. There's been penguins, polar bears, walruses and more all over! Today the preschool added recycled paper polar bears to their Arctic Mural and walked on penguin feet and polar bear paws. Tomorrow is the Blubber Experiment at preschool, and then it will travel to the Toddlers on Thursday.
Boy, do I have a lot to tell you this week! I'll start with my youngest friends and work my way to the oldest kiddos!
A new friend joined the Infant Room this week! All of the new walkers in there are loving having another little one to help take care of. The Infants also celebrated a first birthday this week! They shared some fruit from the party with me, yum!
The Toddler Room also grew this week! One new friend joined our family and another moved over from Infants. The theme in Toddlers this week was Snowmen & Snowflakes, here's one of my buddies playing in the "snow" sensory bin (salt, flour, and cotton).
Hopping two blocks up and one block over to my oldest friends, the Preschoolers! I'm so excited that me and my whole cage are visiting the Preschool for a bit this month! Miss Stephanie is spending a lot of January in Preschool, too, as she is on her winter break before her very last semester in college! We are all so proud of her, and happy that she's willing to vacation with us! My Preschool friends are learning more and more every day. They work with magnet blocks, calendars, numbers, letters and more daily. Some friends are even becoming some serious chess masters!
Hoppy Holidays to our EcoBaby family!!
It was an incredible Solstice week for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers alike! All of my kiddos made gifts for their families and the toddlers and preschoolers had hot cocoa parties. The preschoolers were SO excited to see Miss Bridget when she was their Special Guest at the party!! She read some silly and fun winter books, met our new friends and got big hugs from her friends that moved over to the preschool from the toddler room.
This week we start thinking about 2016 with the theme "A Whole New Year". There will be noisemakers, party hats and "fireworks" galore!
From my cage to your home, best wishes to everyone in 2016!
Paws & Love,
Bunny RaRa here with big news! It's been a week filled with changes at EcoBaby, and all of them are awesome! My new teacher friend Ali has started in the Toddler room and the kiddos are loving her. She helped Miss Jasmin run Transportation Week and the toddlers blew boats through water and Friday is the Truck Race Finale. The Infants said goodbye to their beloved student teacher Katie but on Monday they will say hello to a new infant assistant teacher, LaTonya.
Of course the biggest change comes in the opening of EcoBaby Preschool! Miss Chantell has joined Caitlyn at the Preschool, where the class size is growing by the day! I included a few pictures of the new classroom.
Last, but not least, let me
introduce you to my new
Eric the Eco Fish!
Paws & Love,
I see everything that goes on in our preschool classrooms. This is my account of a day in the life of the Eco Baby Bunny
The newest addition to our team, Cooper is always ready to report the action at the daycare in his segment "The Coop Scoop"
Max the Hamster
Max is a man of few words but he's always here to help Coop with the Scoop in the toddler room
